The idea for the International Festival of Christian Music "Angeloglasie" (translated from Bulgarian as "angel's singing") appeared first in 2014 when Boriana Naydenova, researcher into early Christian music and conductor of choir "In Sacris" decided to find the common ground between the different Christian traditions in their music. This project means to seek bridges between the ancient Christian traditions and communities with the means of music.
The festival is organized to honor of the great Bulgarian musician, researcher, composer and longtime conductor of the choir at church "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" Sofia - Petar Dinev, and the 125th anniversary of his birth. It is planned as an annual event in the first days after the celebration day of Saints Cyril and Methodius (24th of May in Bulgaria) and the desire of the organizers is that a part of it be held in the eponymous temple, as the Slavic apostles are patrons of Europe.
As participants in the festival will be invited selected people, elite representatives of various ancient Christian musical traditions from all over the world. The number of participating in the festival will be low in order for the participants to be able to work closely and have an active communication between them, and a concentrated impact on the audience.
As part of the program we mean to organize one or two concerts with the participants for a wider audience, but also a participation in a solemn Holy Mass, which will be a memorable, dignified and strong finish for an event related to the musical culture of all Christians.
An important part of the festival program could take up a scientific and theoretical conference on topics related to Christian music, which will be inviting leading local and foreign experts.
